Climb, Hike, Walk Crowders Mountain to Help Eradicate Polio!

The Rotary Club of Gastonia is creating a special fundraising event for Polio Plus. Starting October 14, 2023, registered participants will climb, hike and walk the trails of Crowders Mountain State Park during the week to raise money to help eradicate polio. The event will end on October 24, 2023.

Participants will be asked to document their journey by taking a selfie and other photos of themselves wearing their CrowdOutPolio bracelet at the peak of one of two mountains or along the trail. The photo will be entered into a Facebook contest with prizes going to the winners.

Gastonia is uniquely positioned for such an event with its history in helping Polio victims during the 1940s and 1950s by being the home of the former NC Orthopedic Hospital for crippled children. Gaston County is also home to Crowders Mountain State Park with 5,217 acres stitched together with eleven trails.
